For newer speakers, it’s a chance to build confidence, structure, and presence around the stories you want to be known for.
For seasoned speakers, it’s an opportunity to showcase what you’ve built, elevate stories that already work and see how they land in a competitive environment.

Created by professional speakers, for professional speakers, Last Story Standing is designed to help you:

• Showcase your storytelling skills

• Receive meaningful feedback

• Push your craft in a way that’s both encouraging and challenging

The competition unfolds across three levels — Chapter, Regional, and National — and if you advance all the way, you’ll earn the opportunity to perform on the main stage at NSA Influence.

No matter where you are in your speaking journey, this is a chance to grow your story, represent our chapter, and support one another as a community that values excellence.

Each Chapter Champion is eligible to compete at the Regional level. In order to compete at the Regional level, the Champion's entry video submission and the $500 Regional Finalist Fee must be submitted prior to the deadline. NSA Philly will cover half of the Regional Finalist Fee.

Competitors are scored on three tracks: purpose, impact, and delivery.

STORY RULES

• Story Time Limit: 5 Minutes – The first word to the last is the timed window.
  • This does not include their introduction. Introductions should not exceed 30 sec.

• The contestant must tell ONE story with a beginning, middle and end.
• The story should have ONE theme and ONE outcome.
• It should provide a purpose for telling the story with a call to action.
• This should not be a TED style talk - it must be ONE STORY.
• The contestant must use their voice only- no Instruments, no props, no costumes, physical examples or additional elements are allowed. These will be considered distractions and negatively impact the score.
• The contestant can use their voice in any way, but the story cannot be a SONG in its entirety.
• The message of the story should be clear and directed to the identified market.
